You will move to Kathmandu airport after breakfast and take a flight to Paro, Bhutan. You will undergo immigration and customs at the Paro International Airport and then you will be met by your driver outside the terminal. Starting at Paro, you will begin the picturesque journey to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The trip is about 65 kilometers and it takes about two hours. The political and financial center of the country is called Thimphu and is situated on the banks of the Wang Chhu River.
The city houses significant government constructions, such as the National Assembly, the residence of the King and various administrative offices. Thimphu also has a four-day-long festival during September and October every year, which is attended by the people of various regions of the country. Today is devoted to sightseeing in Thimphu’s main attractions. The day will start with a full-day sightseeing tour in the capital after you have taken breakfast at the hotel. Your first visit is to Anim Dratshang, a peaceful nunnery located on a hillside above Tashichho Dzong.
Then, proceed to the Kuensel Phodrang to see the wonderful Buddha Dordenma Statue. It is a large bronze statue (54 m / 177 ft) that stands over the valley and has thousands of other smaller statues of Buddha within it. The monument was completed in 2015 and is one of the important landmarks of Bhutan.
